Hi, a "pop" sound from any electronic item is a bad sign (unless they are designed to make that sound of course). It could be any thing a capacitor or a chip or a battery. It could be anything, anywhere... What I can say from your description is that either you have to take it to the service center and get it fixed by replacing the component or just repaired. Worst case scenario, if the repair costs a too much you might have to buy a new one. Hope your problem is small and easily repairable.
Per saperne di piùHi, I am no expert but just trying to help. Do not directly go for the factory reset. First thinks in this path. Before this problem started, 1) Did you or someone dropped the phone recently or put weight on the phone either by sitting with the phone in your back pocket or accidentlly sat or stepped on it or put pressure on it? If the above one is the case you might have a screen problem and had to get replaced. 2) This is a little unlikely but, what are very recent updates or apps that were installed before the problem has started? Applications are less likely cause this problem but sometimes updates can. Just to be on the safe side let's check the solutions for the 2nd question first and then go for the 1st one. Try to uninstall the most recent app you have installed (before the problem started) and restart the phone and check if the problem is solved. Repeat this step for may be 2 or 3 apps. If this does not fix it then go for a factory reset (factory reset is for checking the possibility of the problem...
Per saperne di piùHi guys, I have a Galaxy S5 and I have a much worse problem than just screen flickering... i have a work around too. I am postiong this here hoping this might help you guys in figuring out a little more about what is causing the problem. Let me explain it. Like everyone my screen flickers at low brightness, or is about to turn off the screen "screen timeout" and when I place a call it was like this for almost a month and then it became worse. If it lock my phone or the screen times out, I cannot turn my screen back on. The phone works normally, the touch screen works and all the apps work fine but you cannot see anything (wonder how I know things are normal? I can make a call or launch an app by guessing there position on screen) later one day the screen turned on and I immediately installed "host for Samsung" by TeamViewer and started to control my phone from my PC. Then I saw that my screen some times can be turned on. So, I obesrved what is causing it to be able to turn on. The answer strangly is heat....
Per saperne di piùHi, I have Galaxy S5 and I am facing the same exact problem. The screen starts to flicker and then the screen goes black. After this you cannot see anything but the phone works just fine. It performs normally even though you cannot see anything. I am currently posting this answer from the same Galaxy S5 :D the problem still exists but you can still use the phone but you need a lot of patience using it. So, here is what I suggest you try. The following instructions sure sound real strange but it is 100% working for me. If your phone's screen turn's on anytime the make sure that you change the "screen timeout" to 10 mins (go to Settings -> Display -> screen timeout). Now change you screen brightness so that "Auto" is not checked and make sure that your screen brightness is always kept above 50%. Sometimes of the screen starts to flicker randomly just keep bumping up the brightness little untill the flickering stops. (This is optional but very useful) If possible, download host for Samsung app (by TeamViewer)...
