If the backlight is truly broken, as you say it is, I would recommend replacing the screen. This is the simplest and most effective solution. (Here's a video tutorial). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KfxVT5YfGO... Hope this helps, Imad
Are you trying to restore the whole IOS system or just your files? And you didn't by any chance happen to save your SSH blob? Unless you have, there is no way to downgrade your phone as Apple has stopped signing older versions of IOS.
Well, you just said the problem yourelf. You opened your hard drive. Unless you did this in a 'clean room', that has almost guaranteed to have detroyed the destroyed it. One fleck of dust could have taken out quite a few tracks as it gets picked up by the head and dragged all over the place. You could probably get away with opening it in a non clean room if the drive was empty and you did a surface scan after closing it and reallocated all the newly-bad sectors, however even that would be very risky.
Hi! No, that is not possible to upgrade your iPhone. Support for the iPhone 3G stop at iOS 4.2.1. However, what you can try to do is go into ituens on the computer. From there, navigate to the App Store Download the app you desire (using the apple id connected to the phone). Once downloaded, go to the appstore on your phone and find the app you downlaoded on your comuter. Download the app, and when asked if you would like to download and earlier compatible version, say yes. The app shoudl be installed. If that does not work, then the app did not even support that iOS version. Hope this helped, Imad

Hi! I'm no expert on laser engraving or S6 edges but I would suggest taking off the back panel of the phone before proceeding to engrave it. This way, the phone's internals will stay safe and working. And if you do do something wrong, you can simply buy a new back panel rather than a whole new phone.
Yeah, I agree with you completely. But since this was a teardown and I had no intention of putting it back together (and I don't have a solder), I just ripped it off.
Great for you buddy. Has it perhaps occured to you that the board itself could be ?
If I have to sacrifice one controller in order to show people how to (potentially) fix theirs, then I'm fully fine with that.
Sorry! Meant to be 5 screws.
