rj713 that is almost correct. Clicking "renew DHCP lease" button WILL release it just fine, regardless what your ISP may have said. What happens though is that some ISPs will associate a given IP address with your NIC card's Mac address. If your ISP only allows you one IP address AND you don't have a router between your computer and your cable modem to provide NAT addressing then this can be an issue. It's a common problem. It will look like only one computer can get to the internet. So in this situation, if that's what's going on here, then the ISP in an effort to only let ONE computer use their service, is only letting the iMac through and blocking everything else. Fortunately this information is almost always stored temporarily in your cable modems ram. Simply turning the modem off for 10 seconds or so then powering everything back with the other machine plugged into it will fix the problem for most people. If this is indeed the issue then a more permanent fix would be getting a home router such as an...
Per saperne di piùYes, a similar thing happened to me. To be fair, it might be that you do need a new logic board, but I would recommend that you start with a good cleaning first. My wife used to have a 12" powerbook G4 that she would use in the kitchen. One day she managed to put it down in something that was a mixture of some sauce with flour. This clogged up the air vents in a certain spot almost completely. She didn't tell me this happened, and so I started with troubleshooting the same issues that you describe. It would overheat and shut off, have racing fans etc. Sometimes other random crashes and stuff or weird behavior. When I discovered the real problem I sat down with some sharp tools and dug all the crap out of the vents, and what do you know? It worked great after that! Just like new. Start with that, which might mean no take apart needed at all. If that doesn't help, then use the iFixit takeapart guide for your model to see how to take the case off enough to get to the fans. Per saperne di piùHard drives can and do go bad at any time. In my experience they usually last a good long while, but occasionally you'll get a bad one. The bad ones can fail at any time no matter if they are new or old. Those kind of utilities do sometimes give false positives though so you might want to get a "second opinion" with other software diagnostics, or repeat runs of the same one. Since your machine is new, the hard drive will be covered by apple so I would recommend you take it in to the apple store and let the techs run their own diagnostics. They should be able to confirm or deny the problem. If there is a problem then they will repair it for free (assuming you haven't already voided the coverage somehow). If that's not an option then you could just replace the hard drive yourself. They are pretty cheap these days and in your model it's easy to do yourself: Sostituzione Disco Fisso nel MacBook Core 2 Duo If that doesn't appeal to you then you could take a more cautious approach. Keep your data fully backed up...
Per saperne di piùThe way to fix it is to replace the part. If your sim card is broken then you need a new sim card. If the iPhone end is broken than you need a new iPhone logic board. Repair guide here: iPhone 3G Logic Board Replacement Once you take it apart you can look to see if you might get lucky and just be able to carefully bend a pin back in place or something, but most likely you need a logic board.
Per saperne di piùThe only danger is that while there *are* cheap knock-offs available, they have a very large fail rate, and many of them are dead on arrival. There isn't any danger to your machine or anything though so you'd only be out the cost of the cheap charger if it doesn't work.
Per saperne di piùThere are metal pins inside the audio jack that make contact with the male end of your headphones. The fact that you get different results depending on how far you insert them indicates that one of these is misaligned or damaged. Check to make sure that there isn't any debris inside the jack making trouble, but if not then you will need that jack replaced in order to fix it. Rather than go to that trouble though, I would just get a small usb audio interface to use instead. Something like the Grifin iMic would work perfectly, and you'd just plug your headphones into that: http://www.griffintechnology.com/product... --O
Per saperne di piùGo to your system preferences for "Universal Access" and on the "Mouse and Trackpad" tab, check the box for "ignore trackpad when mouse is present". Screenshot here: http://www.tkjune.com/2008/11/07/enabled...-touchpad-on-new-macbook-when-mouse-is-present/ Unfortunately, thanks to the "unibody-ness" of this model, the keyboard and trackpad are built right into the upper case of the laptop. To replace it you have to pretty much completely dissasemble the entire machine. iFixit classifies this repair as "very difficult" though it can be done. You would need to buy the top case in order to do it, and paying someone to do it will be expensive because of the challenge of the task. If disabling the trackpad brings your mousing back to normal then it sounds like the only other problem is the sticky keys on the keyboard. If you are careful, the tops of the keys can be taken off of the laptop without taking the whole thing apart. You need to be very careful with this as they are easy to break, but you may be able...
Per saperne di piùYes it is possible, and has happened to many people. It's a real crap shoot though. Sometimes you get lucky, other times, not so much. To improve your chances, I highly recommend that you do not try to power it on or use it at all until it is completely dry. Also, take it apart and separate the major parts, particularly the logic board, to allow them to dry properly. You can help it along with putting the parts under a cool air source like a gentle desk fan, just NO hair drying! If iFixit has wonderful tools you can order and free take apart guides to help with the take apart if you need it. --O
Per saperne di piùHere is a picture of it: http://www.best-ipod-online.com/images/user-interface.jpg If that's not the same model you have, just search google images for ipod nano menu or something similar. If that doesn't match up exactly then it probably means that you have changed the items on this menu to be different than the original factory settings. You can use iTunes to restore it to the original firmware to reset it. --O
Per saperne di piùFirst thing I would do is check to make sure there isn't any debris in the jack. Things that get carried in pockets tend to get lint in them and such. Try hitting it with canned air (being careful not to blow moisture into it) and also *carefully* swabbing it out with something long and pointy. If that fails then you probably need to replace the headphone jack. iFixit doesn't seem to have the part at the moment, so here's an ebay listing (no, not mine): http://bit.ly/6uPDCc --O
