Il Mio Problema
The battery in her iPhone 5 was going bad. It wouldn't hold a charge for even 24 hours. Very frustrating for her.
La Mia Riparazione
It went fine. No problems at all. The repair guide was comprehensive and easy to follow. I wish that the plastic opening tool had a finer edge to it; pulling up the edge of the iPhone with the suction cup went well, but it's hard to get much of a gap to wedge that tool into.
I was really surprised by how much adhesive was holding the old battery in place. It took some elbow grease and care to get the old one out.
Il Mio Consiglio
The screws are really, really tiny. I highly recommend a magnetic mat to organize them by size and to hold them so they don't pop onto the floor where they will be gone forever. Trust me on this!!
The connectors between the display and main board are very finicky and fiddly. Be sure you take you time and ensure that you have plugged them back in correctly. You'll know it because they will click into place with a very positive feel. But, be aware that they must be pretty precisely positioned to connect again positively.
Don't let that caution stop you from doing this repair. Although I have a fair amount of electronics experience, I would rate this task as "moderate" only because of the connectors. Other than that, it's a piece of cake.
Her iPhone is happy, she's happy, and when the wife is happy, everybody's happy!!!
