Finding parts for a Vintage iMac.
Il Mio Problema
A lady in her 70's drove an hour to our service center to drop off her iMac because it would not turn on. I was off work that day, and the salesmen at our store charged her the normal fee for taking in an out of warranty Mac for service. When I returned, saw it and panicked because I knew if was vintage and that Apple would not be offering any parts for it. I felt bad since she had traveled so far and already paid fee, so I talked with some other technicians from another store and they suggested this website. I quickly found the power supply needed for the repair.
La Mia Riparazione
Older iMacs are never easy to take apart... but in the end, it worked, she was happy, and I was glad that I found the part from a trusted source and for a decent price.
Il Mio Consiglio
This can be time consuming because the heat sink for the processor covers the connector for the AC cord, and has to be removed. I didn't have a decent tool to release the front bezel, so I made one out of ABS. I also would suggest adding tape behind the power button to keep it flush with the back plastic.
