The battery wouldn't hold a charge any longer. It was time to replace it. Despite it's age, I still use this laptop to work on legacy software.

Very easy. The battery on this unit is midway between those laptops where the battery is enclosed in a hard plastic case, vs. it's a series of plastic pouches, secured by a series of double-stick strips that require an incredible amount of work - removing adjacent parts, (to prevent possible damage), then using solvent and plastic cards to carefully loosen the pouches from one side to the other, eventually removing the battery as an entire unit.
In this case, the pouches are exposed, but they're enclosed in a plastic frame, rather than a case. No use of solvent is required.
You simply remove the case. Disconnect the necessary cable. Remove the screws holding the frame, and remove the frame and the battery.
When installing it's replacement, follow the hints that others have posted.
The job is easy.

Make sure to read through the instructions for the ENTIRE procedure before starting. This should be done no matter how easy or difficult the task. Also read the comments.
Gather your tools. Work in a well-lit area. If necessary, wear a "head-light", so that. I'm a senior citizen, and those "head-lights" are a god-send for my ancient eyes.
