Il Mio Problema
My iPhone 6 full charge to low power warning was down to a little less than 3 hours. I was having to carry a charger with me where ever I went. Time for a replacement battery.
La Mia Riparazione
I am 74 years old and drive a school bus, and I need to carry a fully functional phone with me at all times. Can't use it while driving but need it in case of an emergency on the bus. It was obvious that the battery needed replacing and I wanted to give it a try as taking it to a shop was not only expensive but inconvenient. I did what everyone does these days and went to the internet to find out if it was possible to replace the battery myself. iFixit came to the rescue. They were highly rated and I found their support information to be very complete and easy to read and understand. So I ordered the battery for my iPhone 6. I received it promptly and was amazed at the tools that came with the battery. Everything I needed was there. With the weekend coming up I decided to dive in and attempt the replacement. The only reservations I had up front was my eyesight and fat fingers. My god those screws are tiny. Anyway, I found my magnifier lenses and went to work. In less that 30 minutes I had my iPhone fired up and working without a hitch. iFixit has the process nailed. It takes some care handling the connectors and using the proper tools to remove and reinstall all the screws. A well laid out step-by-step process provided on their website was extremely helpful. It's great to have my phone back and once again holding a charge. Thank you iFixit.
Il Mio Consiglio
Keep the screws separated by location and position. Be very careful trying to hold the tiny screws with the tweezers. Squeeze too hard and the screws can disappear in a heartbeat. I drew a rough shetch of the screw locations and laid each screw by it's position on the drawing. DO NOT MIX UP THE SCREWS. Length is critical as you don't want to put a longer screw where it doesn't belong or you can cause damage to the circuit board.
