Il Mio Problema

My iPhone was 2+ years old and the battery just didn't have the life it once had.

La Mia Riparazione

The process was really easy. The iFixit kit had everything I needed to do the repair. I was done with the process in about 10 minutes.

Il Mio Consiglio

A couple of things I found:

- After attaching the suction cup to the display, it was hard to get the display to separate from the case to get the opening tool in to the space between them. When I pulled harder, the display came free all at once. I was worried that I might have damaged the cables from the display to the logic board (I didn't). When I looked at the forum, I saw others had the same experience. I took the phone apart again, and was able to open the case without pulling the display so far. It's easier to control if you're expecting it.

- When I put the phone back together, I noticed a hotspot at the top of the display, that seemed like it was in the same location as the shield over the cable connectors (which is removed and replaced during the battery replacement). I opened the phone and removed and replaced the shield, making sure everything was seated. When I put the phone back together, it worked perfectly. I think the shield was pressing against the display, causing the hotspot.
