Replaced trackpad on MacBook A1342

Trackpad clicker didn't work

The instructions were very clear and replacement went easy.

After installing the new trackpad the clicker still didn't work. I took it apart and noticed an adjustment screw that actuates the detent. I increased it and then it worked great. I didn't bother to try the old trackpad with the new adjustment but I am wondering if that was the problem all along and I really didn't need a new trackpad.
