iPod Nano 1st Generation Battery Replacement

40 minuti - 2 ore

Very difficult

Il Mio Problema

the old battery was down to 40 minutes run time on a full charge. time for a new battery.

La Mia Riparazione

opening the case was the hardest part. once that hurdle was overcome the rest was pretty straight forward. ipod is like new, plays for several hours now.

Il Mio Consiglio

i did not disconnect any of the ribbon cables between the logic board and the screen/control wheel. i simply unscrewed the logic board's 3 screws, then disconnected the logic board from its holding tabs and lifted it above the face place about a half inch. Then i used 2 spudgers as risers between the face plate and the logic board to hold it up. All the soldering was done in that configuration. Heat the solder points and remove old battery wires. Left some solder in the solder points and soldered new battery wires in. removed spudgers and lowered logic board back into place. reconnected taps and screws, replaced kapton tape, put the back plate on, and viola! ipod works great.
