Il Mio Problema

Wanted to replace my Superdrive in 2010 Mac mini that had been disabled way back when I first upgraded to Snow Leopard. Parts arrived very quickly. Instructions were simple. Added a Samsung 500gb SSD. Good to go.

La Mia Riparazione

Had to troubleshoot after the first go around. Computer became extremely hot! I realized . . .

Il Mio Problema

Defective optical drive and need for a life extension of my Mac

La Mia Riparazione

No problem at all!

Il Mio Consiglio

Does not boost overall performance of the Mac itself but might give me an other year or two joy with my Mac for a minimum of $.

Il Mio Problema

I'm a full-time computer repair specialist who does side work for friends. Sometimes, those friends are customers whose computers we can't fix (because we don't carry the parts) or aren't allowed to fix (because it's too complicated of a repair). This was one of those times. The iMac wouldn't boot a . . .

Il Mio Problema

The iMac was a mid-2010 i5 3.0GHz, not too shabby but was getting a bit long in the tooth for opening up Adobe programs and took forever when switching logged in users.

La Mia Riparazione

This was the second iMac I've done this on now, and the swap was simple and easy. I would say the 12.7mm SATA Optical Bay does not . . .

Il Mio Problema

The optical drive did not work so I installed dual Hard Drive instead.

And I want to upgrade to El Kapitan and install some more ROM.

La Mia Riparazione

Slow IMAC needed some action!

Replaceing the optical drive with an 250GB SSD (from Crucial) was a natural choice!

Using the new SSD as startup disk.

La Mia Riparazione

Beeing very carefull and spending a litle extra time on the echange process - Succsess!

OSX and applications now run on the SSD. User on the old h.dis . . .

Il Mio Problema

My wife and I, being on a limited budget, needed new iMacs. Not being able to afford one for each of us, we decided to take a gamble on trying to upgrade the ones we already had. They are both mid 2010 21.5" iMacs. Both had become slow as Christmas. I had read about this website and did my home . . .

Il Mio Problema

Wanted to speed up my iMac performance. The RAM was already maxed, so the only thing left to do was upgrade the what's drive to an SSD.

La Mia Riparazione

It was pretty smooth. Much easier than I thought it would be.

Il Mio Consiglio

I think it's worthwhile to upgrade the ram & SSD on your older Mac before going out and buying a new one . . .

Upgrade mid 2010 iMac 21.5 to SSD

La Mia Riparazione

I have successfully upgraded my iMac mid 2010 21.5 inch to Samsung Pro 256G SSD using the SATA optical bay hard drive enclosure. Initially, I ordered the wrong part and iFixit switched it for me prior to shipping. Second, the product arrived couple days late (most . . .
