    • Remove Bottom Plate. It's a sticker, thicker than you expect. Pry hard.

    • One T8 screw prevents the screen from rotating, remove this prior to twisting the screen out. Two T5 screws hold the electronics stack.

  3. Amazon Echo Spot Teardown: passo 3, immagine 1 di 2 Amazon Echo Spot Teardown: passo 3, immagine 2 di 2
    • There is a Micro USB port hiding in the back under a plastic cover.

    • Attaching a USB cable to the port reveals a device that classifies itself as an "Android Device"

    • It is also possible by holding down all 3 buttons on the top to put the device into FASTBOOT mode. Lots more to explore here.

  4. Amazon Echo Spot Teardown: passo 4, immagine 1 di 1
    • After removing the aforementioned T8 screw, press your palm against the screen and twist counterclockwise. Alternately, hot-glue the screen to the workbench, twist the back off, then remove the glue.

A strong suction cup makes this job easy. I used a knife sharpener which has a really good suction cup on its bottom.

What display is being used? Rectangular or circular shape? Can you please publish article number and or manufacturer code?

Andreas - Replica

He said the display was round. I have no idea what the code would be, but I’d assume it’s a custom Amazon display.

Liam Powell -

Thanks for doing this. Any photos of the speaker system? The sound is pretty good for such a small device.

Martin P - Replica

Any photo of the power-plug? (+ in center?) Specification of the power adapter?

It seems that display is octogonal shape, not circular.

OLED or LCD panel ??

Daniel Fernandez - Replica

the display itself looks like it’s round but the frame is octagonal so it will fit in the chassis without rotating. that would be my best guess.

Logan Teffertiller -

we need part number of this display. Can anyone suggest?

could you me the Mic Array Board to us? I really want to confirm wheather Amazon has the agrithm that the microphone placement can support not on the same surface?

Your step 4 is all wrong. you don’t have to pry at all. With a clean (oil free) palm, jusy apply slight pressure on the front of the screen while holding the back firmly with the other hand. then use just a small quick counter clockwise twist, the screen will move just about 1/2 inch. You’ll feel it click. Then the screen will literally fall out in you hand.

Any insights about how they’re molding the outer shell? How are they getting away with those undercuts?

How do you repair a screen flicker?

Mario Salas - Replica

what type of connector does the display uses ?

thomas - Replica

Do you have a solution to the screen jitter problem ???

Failure that deeply affects this device and no solution from Amazon.

Luc Janssen - Replica

What is it that actually causes the display to flicker? Do you know please? Can it be repaired? Thanks. Nick

Nick Parks - Replica

The display flicker seems to be a very common problem with the Spot. Mine flickers once approximately every 1.2-1.4 seconds. Going to have to disassemble it and reconnect everything outside of the case and use an o-scope to find what’s bad. Given the near constant frequency of the flicker, I’m going to say either a bad cap or display controller. Possibly a bad signal telling the display controller to go to sleep and then waking it back up?

dkreskowiakk - Replica

Do you know if the display uses a mipi connector? Looks a lot like this one

Warren Binder - Replica

Can I access its storage through that hidden micro usb port? And how do you open the cap to reveal micro usb?
