MacBook Pro 15" mid-2010 SSD upgrade compatible?

I've got an 15" Apple Macbook Pro Unibody from mid 2010 with a i7 2.66 GHz. I'm currently running the latest Mountain Lion (which is Trim supported that I've heard somewhere). The reason I want to upgrade is because I've got sick and tired from my 500GB Hard drive (which failed on me multiple times. Bad luck I guess).

When the SSD first came into the market I was really interested but back then it was way to expensive for me. But I think the time is right now to upgrade my Macbook Pro.

My question is, I want to upgrade from a 500GB Hard drive to a SSD with a minimum of 250GB. The price really doesn't matter as long it is compatible with my Macbook Pro.

What brand should work fine? Do I need special tools that the connectors would fit on the SDD? And does anyone has it already installed on their Macbook Pro? Does it work smooth and fast?

I plan it to install it myself with the guide that iFixit provides.

Thank you so much for looking into this. I hope you could answer my question.

-Michael

I am running a mid 2010 Macbook pro with a Sandisk 480gb extreme SSD . I fitted it myself, very straightforward to do, if a little fiddly because of the small screws. It runs fantastic, very quick and completely silent of course! There's a little app called Trim Enabler that you should install, which changes some sort of setting to reduce wear on the SSD, google it because it's apparently worth doing.

I'm throwing a suggestion out for the Crucial M4. Took my boot up times from over 2 minutes with a 5400rpm HDD to just 18 seconds, including BIOS/POST screens. Your macbook has a standard SATA interface, so any laptop style drive (or all SSD's) will work.
