Orange light rapidly blinking after fully charged

Hello. I decided to change the sticks on my DualSense (motherboard BDM-030) for new ones with Hall effect. After soldering, during the first attempt to power on the gamepad, I received three short orange blinks when connecting the battery or USB cable. After several attempts to power it on, it suddenly started working normally. So I was glad and finished the manual calibration and then the software calibration.

I assembled the gamepad fully and connected it to the tester. During these tests, I found that the speaker is not working (one contact was bent, so I fixed it later) and both types of vibration are not working (wires are soldered correctly). Everything else looks good, except for the battery, which shows a charge of 0-9%. I charged the gamepad for several hours and saw that after a full charge, the orange light blinks rapidly. After connecting it to the tester again, it showed the battery charge jumping from 0-9% to 100% and back.

Visually, I can't find any missing elements. I don't see any shorts for now. During the removal of the old sticks, I damaged a few traces near the stick buttons, but it was just the green mask being removed.

In conclusion, the symptoms are:

  • Battery charge jumping from 0-9% to 100% when fully charged.
  • Speaker not working (even after fixing the contact).
  • Both types of vibration not working.
  • The gamepad powers off after a few seconds if connected wirelessly.

Maybe someone has had a similar problem and knows how to fix it? I found one topic with similar symptoms, but there was no solution. I will be grateful for any help.

Hi!

Maybe the board went too hot and something got damaged there :(.

Just to be sure, did you tried another battery and speaker? Just to be sure.

In this case it could be a lot, take a look at all the traces and also the power ic.

It could be a lot of things which makes this difficult to see where the issue is…

With other battery and speaker same symptoms. I removed installed Hall sticks and nothing changed unfortunately.

Okay, then it's most likely the power IC or the board had too much heat. I would replace that IC and see what happens!

Thank you for helping. Unfortunately I was not able to fix so sold it for parts.
