Why are my discs not spinning?

Ok, for a start, this PS2 is as old as time. 18 years old, bound to fail. The laser is on it's last breath and I need to order a new one. The main thing stumping me is that the discs simply don't spin. Occasionally they do, but now I'm noticing that they arent spinning at all. I have a picture of the disc area + some of the exterior. I know absolutely nothing about the internal of these so please explain it to me like Im five.

Hi!

First of all, get yourself a new laser and see if that fixes it. If the laser completely failed, it won't be able to read anything.

If the issue persist, you might want to check the sensors. There is 1 on the power on/off button and the other one is on the motherboard (it's a small black switch).

Check if they are both OK. You can press on the lid and see if it reads. If it spins then, then it's the sensor on the motherboard that need to be replaced.

Please replace the laser first, hopefully that will do it...
