To reinstall the audio input (microphone) and output (speakers/headphones) devices on your Acer Aspire ES1-111 laptop, the issue is typically caused by missing, corrupted, or outdated drivers. This model uses Realtek High Definition Audio drivers. The laptop likely runs Windows (commonly Windows 10 or 11 by 2026, originally Windows 8.1).
Follow these steps in order, starting with the simplest. (These steps resolve most software-related audio issues on Acer laptops.)
1. Try Basic Troubleshooting and Automatic Reinstall (No Downloads Needed)
2. Update Drivers via Windows Update
3. Download and Install Official Realtek Audio Driver from Acer
4. Additional Checks If Issues Persist
If none of this works (e.g., hardware fault), consider professional repair, as this budget model is quite old.

To reinstall the audio output and input device on an Acer Aspire ES-111, first press Windows + X and open Device Manager. Expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click your audio device (usually Realtek), and select Uninstall device. Check Delete the driver software if available, then restart the laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the basic audio driver. If sound doesn’t return, visit Acer’s official support site, search for Aspire ES-111, download the correct audio driver, and install it manually. Finally, open Sound Settings to confirm the correct input and output devices are selected.

@charmchess which audio output and input device? What makes you think you have to reinstall this? What Operating System and what happened to your laptop that you get this message? You will need to give us more information.

Are you referring to the audio in and out/ speaker and microphone jacks?
And if so these are usually soldered to the mother board of the laptop.
If you could give us specific information on which Input and output device you are referring to, we may be able to help point you in a direction.
