Hard drive not recognized after replacement.

I have a Powerbook G4 that I have replaced the hard drive and motherboard on twice. After the first MOB replacement, the hard drive was no longer recognized by the MOB.

I replaced the MOB again, used the same hard drive and everything was fine for awhile. Then I had to temporarily remove the hard drive, and when I went to put it back, again the MOB would not recognize the hard drive.

I have triple check the connections, but can't figure out what keeps happening. I have tried the NVram reset and pram reset - neither has helped. It is like the hard drive is not there. I have also tried replacing the hard drive and still no go.

There must be something that I am missing that keeps causing this. Any ideas?

If you are connecting/disconnecting the hd with power to the unit you're shorting the board or HD. IF not your logic board may again be bad. You can stick the HD in an external case (not very expensive) and connect it to another computer to be sure it's not your HD.

Thanks. It turned out to be defective cable that connected the HD to the MOB.
