My iPhone's lock button doesn't work?

It happened today when I dropped it at my friend's house. My IPhone drops frequently because I am very clumsy, but the lock button has never been like this until today when I dropped it. I can still press the button, but it doesn't respond to anything, I tried using force but nothing happened. I have pried open the display of my IPhone ( Taking out both screws then using a suction cup etc. ), I didn't dare touch anything after that because I was afraid that I don't know how to put everything back today. I would be good if I could have a picture illustration on how to fully repair the button. My contract is over and I do not want to renew it with my contractor because I do not have spare money to spend it on my IPhone.

There are several things that you could try to do to resolve this problem:

1.) Open up the iPhone and check to see that the power button/lock button ribbon cable connector is securely fastened to the logic board. Follow this guide:

iPhone 3GS Power Button Replacement

....until you get to step 10 and you see the ribbon cable labeled "6." This is the connector for the power button cable. Make sure that this is firmly seated and the put the phone back together making sure to place all the screws in their appropriate places and making sure that you get all the ribbon cable connectors firmly in their slots. Once the phone is back together test the button to see if it works. Leave a comment saying it doesn't work and I can show you how to replace the power button assembly.

Hope this Helps.

Um.. On my IPhone 3GS, I have sticker 6, but it is under the headphone jack. But if you insist, I used the spudger and pressed down on the sticker, it is firm and I have also checked everything else except removing the logic board completely ( which I don't want to because I do not have a solder gun and I am afraid ) to double check on the lock button. I have now placed my IPhone back together again. The Lock / Power button still couldn't work tho.
