iPhone 3GS shows connected but won't charge(replaced battery no luck)

Here is a quick breakdown of symptoms and what I have tried. My phone died one day and would not turn back on. I have tried 3 batteries now thinking the ones I received were defective. I am now thinking it may be something else. Possibly the dock connector??

Whenever I had replaced the battery I was able to turn the phone on with the little juice that the battery came with out of the package. I would then attempt to charge the phone and notice the charging symbol when plugged in. Everything seemed ok then but the battery would never recharge. The battery percentage would just continually drop until completely dead. Also, I noticed that the phone was able to sync to my computer when I had power.

Any ideas what I should try next.

Cliffnotes: phone would work when I had battery, but the battery would just die without recharging when plugged in. Phone would show charging symbol but battery would not actually charge.

Well, I just replaced the dock connector with no luck. I also replaced the battery yet again at the same time. Everything worked fine again until the battery drained and died. I think I am giving up now. I am lost on what the issue is. I can connect to Itunes and what not but the battery will not charge and eventually die. I think its time to fork over the $165 to Apple for a replacement phone :(

What was the outcome? The same problem is happening to my iPhone 3GS

3GS16, take a look at the attached images and use a multimeter to test the fuses. Also, make sure that you check the voltage on your dock connector. Make sure it is clean and in good working order. There is always a chance that you power management IC is no longer functioning

Thanks for the reply. I will test that and reply back. So the first image(charging fuses) has for four fuses?

I am wondering since when I plugged the charger into the dock connector and the phone showed it was connected and charging(although not actually charging) that my dock connector is functioning properly. I was planning on replacing the dock connector next to see if that fixes anything, but now I am thinking it may be a fuse...

Check the fuses first, also check for any obvious burned or missing components on the logic board as well as interrupted traces.
