Squeaky fan, want to lube, trying to take apart. This unit has a single very deep Torx screw. Anyone know what size and length driver fits?
The demon engineer embedded the screws in deep narrow tunnels, too narrow for interchangeable bits. Which also makes it difficult to photograph.

You can buy a set of torx keys similar to Allen keys pretty cheaply. Make sure they are the security type with the hole in the middle.

Could you add some photos? Otherwise a screwdriver with interchangeable bits might be a solution

You can edit your initial post and add it there - anyway it looks more like a rivet or an allen key - have you tried?

I carefully tried both metric and SAE allen keys, nothing bites.

I contacted Lasko, owner of Guardian Technologies, "Regarding your question about whether the lock on your unit is secured by rivets or screws, we do not have detailed information on this, as the part is not designed to be taken apart." So most likely rivets. All I can think of to do now is try a long 1/8 drill bit.
