Repair information and disassembly guides for JVC camcorders.

Camcorder Doesn't Display Video Content on it's LCD Screen.

Hello!

I would like help in solving a problem that I am having with my “Camcorder.” I will describe the problem that I am having with this machine in detail.

The camcorder is a “Sony JVC GR-D250U”

It was stored for many years with the battery connected to it, and recently I turned it on to put some of my “miniDV” tapes in its tape loading compartment to see what I had on them.

I tested all the miniDV tapes that I have for it by opening and inserting these miniDV tapes in the loading compartment with the battery and the power cable connected to the camcorder at the same time. After I tested all of my miniDV tapes, the following message appeared on the camcorder's LCD screen:

"Remove and Reattach Battery Unit in Safeguard Mode" code "06"

I did exactly what this message says to do, with this single battery that I have, and nothing changed, I kept getting the same message and I could not see the content that I had recorded on each of these miniDV tapes for this camcorder.

I believe the last time this camcorder was used, was back in 2009.

How do I solve this problem?

Hi @mrfixit50969

Did you mean a JVC GR-D250 series camcorder? Can't find anything on a "Sony JVC" GR-D250 model

How did you test the mini tapes?

Were the tapes turning in the camcorder?

An E06 error code is a capstan problem.

Besides an electrical problem with the capstan i.e. not sending a signal back to the CPU it could be because the capstan cannot be started or the capstan rotation is stopped due to the tape transport load being too high.

This could be due to the tape tension being extremely high e.g. tape sticking on the reel or the tape is damaged or soiled with grease, etc.

If the tapes aren't turning, then try manually winding the tape from the supply reel to the take up reel in the cassette and back again to make sure that it isn't sticking to itself.
