My ATT Trek HD 9020A says "Couldn't sign in, There was a problem communication with google servers." after a reset, why is this happening?

It's Android 5 and the play services. Google doesn't support Play services on 5 anymore. They stopped supporting it in 2024, which generally means it was fine until it checked in with Google and then it was caught.
Not much you can do here outside of get new tablet with a current Android version.
