Water damage, now heaps of things aren't working. PLEASE HELP!

Hi, i dropped my iPhone 3GS in the sink the other night. I didn't have any tools to open it so I just left it to dry. The next day, it turned on but there was no light. I have to shine a torch on the screen to see it. The phone will still charge but the sensors next to the ear speaker don't work and the same with the volume buttons and microphone. Also, I think that the phone is getting less of a signal on my Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and my carrier. I want to repair everything so it's like a brand new phone with everything working again but I don't know what to fix, what the problem with the non-working parts are, I don't know what things to get and most of all, I don't know how! Please help me. Things are so much different without my phone and I can't live without it. I need a working phone again.

Rohan, the first thing that I would strongly suggest is that you follow this guide. It was written for the 3G but is the same principal as the 3GS. Once you got it accomplished, re-evaluate the damage. It will also prevent corrosion down the line. If you do not clean your phone now, you may end up with damage in a couple of weeks. Anyhow, once you did that see what happens. Since your LCD remains without backlight, my gut feeling would be that it is short cicuited. You will most likely have to replace it. Not a terrible job to do and not really to expensive. Here is the how-to and the part is available at places like this. I prefer the whole assembly since it causes a whole lot less headache and is far more convenient. Of course if you prefer the LCD by itself is available here. For a good quality item, I suggest this place. Should your backlight continue to not work, you will have to look at some board level repair. There is a backlight coil and an IC that may be giving you trouble. Check on here for a video about that issue. If you need to know how to work on your phone, check the Step-by-step Guides (just click on the tab below the picture) Hope this helps, good luck
