You can follow this guide up to step 13 (skip step 12.) After you remove the left cover, try thoroughly cleaning it. Then, reassemble by following the instructions backwards after you clean the analog stick cover. If this doesn't work, you should consider replacing the entire analog stick, unfortunately, it seems iFixit doesn't have a guide for that yet (for this model)

Replacing the entire unit is the same for every model.
@kylerw, that guide is for replacing the thumb sticks not the potentiometers.

Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud. In the pic above bend the yellow section away from the potentiometer, remover the wiper then clean the wiper and the inside of the yellow part with the bud and alcohol. Do all four then rebuild and test. I did mine over 6 months ago and not had a problem since.
