Nintendo turns off immediately after turning on

I've never encountered this issue with the console before so I am looking for some guidance on the matter if possible.

I have a Nintendo 3DS XL and every time i turn it on, it immediately turns off after a less than a second. It used to work when i opened the screen at different angles, but recently it just doesn't stay on period.

Hope this is fixable as I have lots of valuable pictures saved on it from my childhood.

Okay, so this happen when it's also connected to the charger?

Are you able to test it with a new battery? Would try this first. Easy test and those batteries are not that expensive!

If this failed, then it could be multiple things. From wifi chip to a ribbon cable (camera, or screen or anything else).

So it will be hard to troubleshoot.

Do you also hear a pop when it turns off? Or a quick white flash in 1 of the screens?

Yea i hear a *pop* then it just goes black.

I'll also look into testing with the charger plugged in and getting a new battery as checking those didn't even cross my mind - thanks for the suggestions!!

My pleasure! Alright. A pop sound can be related to the speaker it's ribbon cable... Hard to replace, but this might be the broken component causing it. If you need any guide, please let me know.
