What else could be causing the thumping sounds during the spin cycle?

My washer is making a thumping sound during the spin cycle. It seems to be worse and longer as the speed increases, especially in the last minute or two of the cycle. Sometimes it sounds really bad like clanking and if the machine is about to fall apart. Other times, it makes the sound for a short time then goes away, then comes back later in the cycle. After half of the cycle or so, it starts producing a smell. I am guessing it would be from rubbing maybe? I replaced the shocks. The belt seems to look okay. Both the counterweights are intact and secure. I couldn't see anything rubbing underneath when it's spinning. Someone suggested the bearings, but I thought that was more of a constant sound. I've added a short video in a Box Folder so you can hear exactly what's happening at least part of the time. Washer video

@jayeff It's the Model # 11042926200. The Kenmore Elite He3t.

This is another quick video which was at the end of the cycle today. It was running decently most of spin cycle, but it started the thumping sound then went into this at the end. I was running at medium today instead of high or extra high.

With all the front load washers the spline on the motor is made of plastic and with use and big loads it gets worn and starts to make the rotor wobble then finally spins off the shaft of the drum. They are cheel and easy to replace. do a google look up on doing the work, I have done many and the washer is once again like new. All the worst stuff would be the controller and power supply for the motor. Good luck

So what is the actual part you are replacing? Is it the full motor? This sounds like a possibility. If you watch the second video I posted in the comment above, that shows some of the other sounds it makes at times. It's not every cycle, but it happens on some. Just weird why it would only happen sometimes.

A lot of the time banging noises during the spin cycle is caused by either a faulty shock absorber or suspension spring.

Here are videos that show how to replace the shock absorber and the suspension spring that may help.

The Whirlpool part numbers for the parts shown in the videos are the ones used for the parts in your model. If you think that one or both may need replacing, search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

FYI your model is basically a rebadged (or made to order by Kenmore) Whirlpool machine, as it is comprised entirely of Whirlpool parts, hence the Whirlpool part numbers.

Please see above. I replaced the shocks and checked several parts. The suspension springs were something we were looking at replacing next. I'm wondering about what the response your says though about the spline. Wonder if that may be the issue.

The springs might be the problem but only if they had lost too much tension which would be doubtful. So perhaps it may be the associated with the drive motor as suggested above.

Have you tried removing the belt and manually turning the motor to see if there's movement in the drive shaft or if the tub wobbles when manually rotated? This may isolate where the problem is coming from i.e. the drive or the tub bearing perhaps

It would hurt to check it out anyway.
