Whirlpool Convection Microwave Oven - Error Code F2Q1, trying to fix.
Hi, any help is welcomed:
My 2000-era model, Whirlpool Microwave convection oven Model # GH7208XRS-0, Serial # TRS4810984
After plugging in the microwave oven and pressing OK on the touchscreen and setting clock then it always now has error trouble code: Error F2.Q1 touch FMEA. And the microwave is non-functional. This started out as an intermittent problem which would resolve itself often, now it does not.
When the buttons on the display touchscreen or the buttons on the glass front are pushed, a beeping sound is made with each press till about six presses, and then it stops for a little bit before it will beep again upon pressing any button.
The tech sheet stored inside the front small right vertical panel says for this error code “not reading keypad inputs”.
It says, recommended repair procedure : replace user interface circuit board and door control assembly. I acquired a used working replacement user interface board and installed it, but there was no change in the problem.
The door control assembly. I cannot obtain it. It is the complete glass front of the door that has attached to it(like glued onto..) the 3 circuit boards which are behind the central touchscreen and the glass buttons on either side.
I unplugged the connection to the boards and found no corrosion and checked for continuity between the wire connector ends.
I tested and replaced the 2 capacitors on the user interface board which seemed to test bad. Chatgpt helped me with that. But no change. That's when I got the used board to try.
This was a top of the line expensive convection as well oven and matches my stove. I would like to fix it might last a long time after.
I'm wondering if this is a known common problem with a common fix.
Otherwise I wonder if I can unglue the 3 boards which are attached to the backside of the glass and clean in between them perhaps is the problem..
Thank you
