I installed the new battery and all it did was get hot but no power

• Perform a hard reset (remove power and battery, hold power button).
• Inspect for overheating and physical damage.
• Test with a different power adapter.
• Check battery compatibility

One of the things to keep in mind is that heat pretty much always equals a short circuit somewhere. First steps would be to determine if this is within the charging circuitry, or if it is coming from a component on the motherboard. It could create an excessive amp draw which will overheat the battery and charging circuitry. Get an ammeter and connect it between the computer and the DC in power supply (we can most likely find a component where to measure the amperage, once we know what exact motherboard this is). We will definitely need to know how many amps it is pulling.

For now, focus on the voltage regulators and large capacitors. See if you can determine if one of those is shorted to ground. Focus on the components around teh battery connector as well as the DC-in jack.Now, a thermal camera would be nice to have :-) but I am sure you do not have one laying around. There are some thermal camera adjustments for cellphone that are decent. See if you would want to invest in one of those, depending if you have a cellphone :-) I am old and frugal, I use a rosin vaporizer to find overheating components. Check on here to see what I am talking about.

With a little bit of luck there might even be some schematics that will work to fix your computer. We are looking for things like LA-C881P which is a possibility, if your computer is a 9350.
