I updated and now its missing a connection won't go past
i had updated the windows as required and now it just takes me to a trouble shooting selection and I have tried everything but it will not go past that something or a connection is missing. hate to loose all my documents and photos

First of all, your documents and photos will probably be safe. Just don't format your hard drive.
Would you please give more specific details? Describe the toubleshooting section. Windows does have the ability to repair some problems.
What do you mean you "tried everything" and "a connection is missing" - what "connection" are you refering to?
