PowerBook 165C display ribbon broken

Hi, I have PowerBook 165c.

The system runs, but I can’t see nothin because the video ribbon is broken.

So, apparently there is no way to connect it to external display (am I right ?) so how can I find and replace the broken ribbon ?

Thank Fabio

hi Dan , thanks a lot for the answer.

I'm sure the ribbon cable is a problem because.... it is broken.

I'm looking for a substitution but it's very hard.

I checked TheBookYard - PowerBook 165c but it is (for the moment) out of stock. For the external connection, any idea to where I could find such an adapter?

thanks again fabio

The ribbon cable can be replaced, review this guide Macintosh PowerBook 165c Display Replacement

Are you sure the issue is the ribbon cable? This series used CCFLs to light up the LCD screen, I’m suspecting that’s the real issue as it was quite common.

Take a flashlight pressed on the screen at an angle do you see a faint image of your desktop icons? If you do the backlight circuit will need to be checked out as well as the CCFL lamps.

As far as connecting an external display, that is possible! Your system offers a mini DB15 connector. You’ll need a special adapter cable to convert to VGA or composite video

@fabiogiorgetti - Did you ask them for the adapter?

Sadly, the issue a dead system is needed to salvage the parts. Look on eBay for a junker is the last option. Just be careful! There’s a lot scammers out there!
