It will crank but stutter and then die out

So I have a 2000 Honda accord 3.0 v6. My issue right now is sometimes when drive for a bit it runs fine. However if I go into the store for a few mins and come right back.. to crank it. It will crank but stutter and then die out. We cleaned my intake it drove fine and did fine for a while.. but now it’s doing it again. Any ideas?

Well, it’s not consistent. I don’t have any issues with over heating or anything. We have pulled the fuel pump and all is good there. We have also checked to see if there has been any water in my fuel, and that’s a no. Car runs fine when it does finally crank after cooling down for 30 mins. But sometimes, after 5-10 mins of being off it will do it. It’s very weird. I haven’t thought of anything with radiator just because there hasn’t been anything wrong with heating or cooling.

@renewchristin

maybe get the OBDII port scanned just to see if any codes are there.

If there are they may give a clue as to what's going on.

Larger auto parts retail chain stores in the USA will do this for free apparently

Yes. We used ours we have. Only thing that came up is the oxygen sensor. And as I keep telling my husband it could be just that simple.. he does not listen.

@renewchristin

Oxygen sensors are used to determine the correct air to fuel ratio so if it only cranks but doesn't fire I would start thinking about spark or fuel.

Besides which the code wouldn't be there if it was OK

What P013x code are you getting?

First you should check your air and fuel filter.

Air filter is good.. however could it possibly be that my air filter case doesn’t close all the way? My car doesn’t have a fuel filter, just the screen.

da

It's possible about the air box, I've never heard of a vehicle without a fuel filter.
