Replaced battery; Doesn't start doesn't charge; Clicking noise

I attempted to replace the battery on a MBP 15" mid 2014 but I can't get it to work.

It doesn't change, it doesn't start. Makes a strange clicking sound like once a second very faintly, sounds like a short to be honest... Tried to reset SMC, no help. Any ideas? Maybe remove all components again and reinstall one more time? Why is it making this sound?

Details:

Connecting charger

When the magsafe is connected, charging light blinks green once, then blinks orange once with long pauses. There seems to be a clicking noise coming from the logic board (coil or mosfet?). The orange light does not blink at the same frequency as the clicking sounds.

Pushing power button

Clicking sound changes and seems to go elsewhere on the logic board with a faster frequency (2 Hz maybe?).

Resetting SMC

Holding all 4 buttons to reset SMC clicking goes away while holding the buttons. After releasing the buttons, charging light flashes green but laptop still doesn't start.

Let’s give this a try, carefully disconnect the battery and now press the power button to fully discharge the logic board, now plug in the MagSafe charger what is the MagSafe chargers LED color Amber? Now try starting the system did it start?

Indeed as you say, the MagSafe chaged LED was amber without the battery attached. However the system wouldn't start without the battery either. However no clicking sounds.

Before I saw your answer I took out all components again as per the ifixit guide and did some wannabe-Rossman-repair checks. Actually with the help of his videos I managed to do some basic measurements on the different PPBus voltages. They all seemed fine.

Then I mounted all components and to my surprise the Macbook Pro suddenly worked. I'm not sure what happened, perhaps there was a short somewhere? Anyway, although I didn't find the cause I'm just happy it works now. Thank for your time Dan!
