Why doesn't my Panasonic PT-50LC13 power on?

Why does my Panasonic PT-50LC13 power on for about 20 seconds, then lamp led flashes. This is an older (5to 6 years old, which is apparently old for a big screen) Panasonic Big screen. It powers up, lamp comes on, shows channel and video fine for about 20 to 30 seconds then shuts down with the external lamp warning light flashing once every 5 seconds.

My JVC big screen has a built in timer to tell you to replace the lamp which can be reset.

Does anyone know if this Panasonic model has some kind of similar reset? OR could the bulb be bad even if it is coming on?

Thanks for the comment, I ordered this kit and a new lamp just in case. I replaced all of the components and the old lamp does exactly the same thing. The new lamp I purchased does not light up at all. This is extremely strange. I have been repairing board components for years, don't think I made any mistakes there, and even more strange why doesn't the new lamp light up at all. Since the old lamp still continues to do the same thing I assume the new lamp is bad. The "old" lamp is not really that old, maybe 1000 hours on it. When I inspect it is does have a very small cloudy dot on the glass right on top of the lamp itself. Looks like heat discoloration.

George Harrison, I think that with the limited information we have you might be looking at two things. One, the lamp has burned out (less likely since it does come on but only for a short time) and more likely that you have a bad ballast. From what I've read, it is not uncommon for some Mosfet to fail as well as the resistors. Apparently, not an uncommon error for this model. There is even a repair kit to resolve this. Do a search on "Panasonic LSUC0022" should run you about $20 bucks. Page 6 of the service manual will provide you with more info on the blinking LCD. Pay particular attention to of the LEDs (Power, Temp, Lamp). Oh yeah, you can download the service manual from here. Hope this helps, good luck
