Removing the stand to adapt Vesa kit?

Hi !

Is it necessary to remove every component as described for the iMac Intel 20" EMC 2266 (teardown, step 20) to reach the stand ?

Would it be as difficult on the new iMac Intel 21.5" ?

I can't see any way around it unless you get an adapter. Here's a lot of good information that might help.
