hello i have tried to edit the hosts file
with both addresses
also unchecked the tiny umrella set hosts on exit
i have tried every possible step ,and still i wont update or restore
i recieved at first the 3194 error
after it started restoring it crached in teh middle
saYING ERROR 1013
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
THE PHONE CANNOT BE RESTORED WHAT SHOULD I DO ?!!!!

I believe that error is when the unit being used to restore/update cannot contact the apple server to verify the restore, try these:

basically these will run you through checking that the connection is not being redirected based on your hosts file, if this doesn't solve the issue try disabling any anti-virus or firewalls you might have running to see if that helps.

THANK YOU dEAR Xile !!!please please help me i have spend 14 hours non stop trying to solve this i edited the hosts file i have removed the gs.apple line its simply unbelieveable either i get 3194 or 1013 simply impossible!!!!!!!! what am i doing wrong ?!!!! becuase i have done restoring and updating a hundred times this is the first time i am dealing with this kind of stubborn issue! i think the servers are not working anymore! also i have created a custom ipsw with snowbreeze 2.7 still nothing !!any idea ??????what so ever ????? if i will completely remove tiny umbrella and its hosts file will it solve it >? im so deppressed !! i followd correctly and did it all by the book please help me please

That is a really tough one, I have noticed in the past that running tinyumbrella did cause the edit to the host file but if you edited it and tried straight away it is unlikely to be that fault, I have just restored a phone so servers seem to be working OK from UK at least :S
Not sure what else to suggest, I would try a reboot after editing the host file and see if that helps, if not, I am afraid I'm out of ideas but hopefully someone else will come along soon with some more ideas :)

dearest xile ,,,i have done so right now...now it gives me error 1600 what ever i do it ping pong me between those errors after reboot ,this device was in 5,0,1 it has shsh for 4.1 4.3.3 and 5.0.1 it was on 4,3,3 while trying to upgrade to ios 5 i cant seem to restore any other firmware or any other ipsw i have Managed to create a custom 4.3.3 with snowbreeze and i am getting error 14 ,so i removed the downloaded files of itunes folder (to fix error 14)and still i get this error it feels like im 14 hours im trying to fix something which cannot be fixed,simply lost all hope ,if you got anyother idea would just love it !!!! tnx ...
