I'm getting a constant high pitched squeal through my HK Soundsticks

As the title says, I'm getting a high pitched squeal that remains consistent regardless of volume settings. I've tried different USB ports between my display monitor and my iMac to determine it wasn't an audio output on the device, and I plugged in different speakers that also use RCA jacks to make sure it wasn't just the speakers, which it wasn't. With the replacement speakers, I still got the same high pitched interference.

I do hear it coming from the sub as well, so I'm not sure if there's some sort of output amp in there that may be going bad, but I've tried everything I could by process of elimination to determine where the issue may lie. Anyone had experience with these?

@speede55

Have you tried plugging it into another device to see if the issue persists?

da

Yes. Plugged the USB into my display monitor first, then the monitor on my iMac second. Same result from both devices.

@speede55

Are they still under warranty?

da

No, they’re probably 15 years old or so, but other than this new noise they still sound great and look cool, so they’re definitely worth fixing if I can find someone that knows about these units.

Sorry but i don’t really know my way around HK products I better know things like beats or apple but I have had this issue before with other audio products

I found that it was a small amount of corrosion on the auxiliary jack

Maybe try cleaning the connections and also make sure the cable isn’t bent or damaged as it can cause distortion in the audio:-)
