iMac 27 2013 (3 Beeps for RAM Issue) Tested other RAM and no luck

Hi, I have a 2013 iMac 27” i7 model that has an issue with I believe the RAM judging by the 3 beeps its giving. I tested all the memory separately and also tried other modules of RAM in different slots from other working iMacs but still won’t power on and 3 beeps. Have already done reset SMC, tested a different cable but no luck.

Would anyone know if it could be an issue with the logic board?

The iMac was in sleep mode and then the next day restarted in the afternoon so something must have triggered it to restart and start beeping.

Any suggestions of help are much appreciated, please.
Thanks kindly :)

Thanks Dan, so yes I am getting

One beep every 5 seconds

(Your Mac isn't detecting any memory (RAM). If you recently added or replaced the memory, make sure that it's properly installed).

Tested multiple different memory and still the same issue with the beeps.

The RAM was not the problem and the solution is that it was faulty audio/headphone jack connected to the logic board. Unplugging it from the logic board and iMac boots perfectly, plugging in the faulty audio/headphone jack and RAM beeps. If anyone experiences this swap the audio/headphone jack if you can’t resolve this issue by testing other memory to work.

That makes little sense! The jacks wiring has no relationship with the SO-DIMM slots.

One of my friends that repairs logic boards mentioned to me that's the 1st place he troubleshoots with these issues if the memory is fine and I tested it a few times with the faulty audio board and each time it would beep and not boot until I replaced the board and works perfectly fine now.

Headphone jack connector has 2 pins with SCL/SDA (I2C clock and data communication),

It is communicating on a shared common bus: SMB_PCH_CLK, in fact this bus is shared with scl’s and sda’s of many stuff: memory channel A memory channel B, Vref DACs, Vref Control, even the backlight controller and others…

Anything shorting SMB_PCH_CLK will cause 1 RAM beep.

Make sure you are using the correct RAM - PC3L-12800 - 204 pin, DDR-3L, 1600 MHz

Adrian - How could this affect your RAM?

It only connects to the DAC logic on the logic board which connects to the PCH chip, The RAM connects directly to the CPU. The few SMT devices are noise suppression capacitors and a resistor for ESD protection.
