Does a damaged phone screen damage the internal components?
Does having a damaged screen damage the internal components of a phone/other device? If so, why?

The only time I have seen one bad component damage another is when liquid damage is involved as that can short power to places that shouldn’t have it. Typical screen damage such as cracks or scratches shouldn’t do anything to the rest of the phone.

no, these things don't happen. Broken screen finally stops working. Sometimes a damaging affects the phone - freezes it, causes a bootloop or drains the battery. After the exchange, however, everything returns to normal.
Only a broken screen can damage the phone (let water in) :-)
