Replacing the antenna would be a good start. However, if there is corrosion on the board or connectors you will want to clean accordingly (look up water damage cleaning). If the antenna does not respond you may have other issues to troubleshoot. Is the phone gsm or CDMA? And, can you tell if there is any significant corrosion?

The antenna will only cost a few dollars. Make sure to buy the one with the attached cable. This will be a good start for troubleshooting any further problems.

I ran into the same problem. It can be the antenna. But believe it or not it can also be the Emi shield. (the black cover with the 5 screws) By the longest screw on top, if that little metal piece is missing, you we get low wifi. I know it sounds crazy but TRUST ME! Thats what happened to mine when I changed the whole chassis.

Another possiblity is that the iphone 4 inductor (Blue) near wifi antenna plug in could have been knocked off in the process. (worse case scenario). That piece is very rare so its expensive and it also needs to soldered back on the Mboard.

If the blue coil is missing you can do an at home fix without buying any parts. First thing you do is cut a piece of copper wire about an 1/8 inch long then coat the wire in solder and use it as a jumper for the two solder pads where the coil was. If you make a good connection with the solder your problem is solved no need for the coil.

Replace the connector on the board(and/or the wire as well). Use a heat gun on it. Place the heat gun 3 to 3.5" above the board. Use a heat gun holder to be safe. Use a 1000 watt heat gun. Slow count to 15 and it should come right off..
