As stated in the comments, would be helpful to know the make, model or type of vacuum cleaner. One that uses a disposable bag or one that has a see through canister that you empty out when full. Also when did this problem start, after a dirt disposal operation, bag or filter change or change of attachment, pipe, nozzle etc.? More information needed.

Hi. We have a fairly old Electrolux Stand up vacuum cleaner, well looked after. However, after the wife cleaned the machine and washed the bag,it now blows dust out of the bag. What now....Jeff
Obviously, the bag, or the connection of the bag to the hose has been compromised during the cleaning. Redo it and insure everything is properly connected and the bag isn't broken
Can you please add some more information about the problem, like where is it coming out etc.?

First of all, is it a bagless vacuum cleaner or does it have a dust collection bag? If it has a dust collection bag fitted, then it could be ripped, not fitted correctly or the wrong type for this model. Most vacuums also have an air clean up filter element on the air outlet side, this maybe missing or damaged.
