Domanda Chiusa

parallels 5.0 is running slow.

I have parallels 5.0 installed with windows 7 and for some reason my MacBook Pro moves slow. Even when I try to use the mac OS side of it. What can be done to speed it up or can it be speeded up? At times it (cpu) would run high and then my mac would freeze for a while and then back to normal. Is there another software I can use to run windows.

http://theappleblog.com/2009/11/05/paral... Read that article and google some more. Parallels and fusion are the main competitors in this type of software and supposedly P5 is faster than fusion3. Your problem lies somewhere in your configurations or hardware.

I don't run Parallels (anymore*), but I do have the 2.33GHz version of this MBP and I'm running VMware Fusion with Windows XP - that's one alternative way (free trial available). You can also try Crossover, or a free solution called Wine

*I used to use Parallels v3 but found at the time VMware was faster, so I switched. but don't judge your setup based on this old observation - I hear Parallels v5 is much faster than before. (I've not compared latest versions of both)

anyhow I know if too little disk and ram is allocated to the VM then performance can seriously bog down, play around with those settings. perhaps someone else can tell you the optimum settings in P 5 for that.

That depends on how much RAM he has installed on his machine. Cause I have P5 and i run both OS and open apps with no slowdown. Once u log off the virtual machine all CPU resources and RAM are dedicated to MacOS. I dont think Parallel is the cause of this mishap.

http://www.mactech.com/articles/mactech/... Even the old Parallels was 14% faster than fusion. :o)

I have recently installed this software, with Windows7 as well with no problems with slow down. I have a 2.0 ghz MacBook with 4GB of RAM. How much RAM are u running? Did u set the preferences for how much RAM is allocated for the machine when running parallel? How much space do u have on ur drive? Your machine is considerably faster than mine so I dont see why you have such a slow-down.
