I have a MacBook Pro 11,3. The external display works with no problems. The internal screen doesn’t. I’ve already replaced it but still no luck. Am I missing something important. It should also be noted that it is using a pretty old efi firmware version. Would that make a difference?

So you did the test and don’t seen anything is that correct? Then you’ll need to look at the display connector area is the connector or the solder joints damaged?

@danj The connectors appear fine. I think it might be the display as
it didn't work on an early 2013 MacBook Pro either. It would work on both machines just without the camera?
@coreycusick You can't use an early 2013 display on this system! They are not pin compatible with yours! Apple altered things. You need to use a 15" MacBook Pro Display Assembly (13/14), Apple P/N 661-8310
Hopefully you didn't damage your system in the process.
@danj I used a 2014 display on a 2013 retina. It still works fine...So the pinout is different? For the actual LVSD cable?
@danj I was told the only incompatability would be the webcam connector.

@coreycusick - There is a difference between the Early 2013 and Late 2013 systems displays. The display cable is wired differently. Also note the late 2013 and 2014 share the same display as I expressed in my part listing above.
The iSight/FaceTime camera cable is also different lengths which is also a reason not to use it.

Using a flashlight shine it through the logo in the lid are you able to see the faint image of your desktop and its icons?

@danj No, the screen just doesn't have anything on it. The backlight is not the only problem.
