iPhone is stuck in a boot loop after replacing the lightning port

After trying to do a housing transfer, the phone got put in a boot loop, but only whenever the charging port was plugged into the logic board. Whenever I try to use it on a charged battery without it plugged in, everything seems to work fine.

I’ve already tried one or two different charging ports and I'm getting the same issue. Not sure whether I’m not plugging it in right or if I’ve damaged the logic board itself since I’m very new to repair.

Earlier, the phone showed that it was charging on the low battery screen but I didn’t see whether it was able to get to the apple logo before I swapped in a charged battery.

Charging flex replacements are notorious for arriving half working or causing boot loops. I would suggest buying a second flex and then fitting it onto the top of the board to test rather than fitting it into a phone. If you connect a charger wire beforehand you are able to test its functionality too. I have had many charger flexes causing boot loops and it’s almost always a bad flex, this is why we never stip the phone before testing the flex sat on top of the board, you may need to use your finger to hold the flex on.

Other signs of bad flex, bend to the FPC connector, you can sometimes bend them back slightly and make them sit flush on the board again, this has fixed one or two flex cables in the past. You can see if the connector is bent by looking at how well it is sat on the board and if its flush with the board :)

If you have a microscope it’s also worth checking the FPC Port for the charger flex. See if any pins are damaged inside. I have a iPhone 8 in right now that boot loops and it turned out pin 31 is damaged, its suppose to be a ground but still causing a boot loop some how :(

Hope this helps with the troubleshooting :)
