C67 was missing, what do I do?

Block Image

Hi everyone!

So I recently got a sega game gear, and i know I need to replace the caps, but upon closer inspection, the small bit labelled c67 is missing. I think it's a part to do with the audio but I'm not 100% sure. Will it work without it? Or will I have to wire things to other things? Thanks

charlotte parker, pictures always help when it comes to circuit boards on legacy devices. Post some good pictures of your circuit board with your QUESTION so that we can see what you see.

C67 is a 1µF 16V tantalum capacitor. Should be a NEC SVA1C105M1-8R but that is just academics. Any manufacturer will work for a replacement. you are looking for something like this

Solder pads etc., look good. Should be a straightforward replacement of the SMD cap. All you would need to do is to measure the distance from solder pad-to-solder pad so you know what package size the cap will have to be. According to the schematic the cap seats in the audio Left circuitry. There should be no reason why your Sega would not work without it. It’s an easy fix so just fix it to keep your device working well.
