Molybdenum wire thickness for glass separating

I want to do a home replacement of a Samsung S8 glass.

I’ve searched the internet to buy a molybdenum wire to separate the glass from the lcd but i don’t know what thickness to buy and what is the difference between them. I see they are from 0.03 to 0.1 thickness. Can someone tell me what’s the catch ?

Thanks !

Listen, I know you see all these guides online on how to DIY glass only repairs on these phones, but all I have to say is you can’t do them. You need a lot of practice and quite a lot of skill to perform that repair. That’s why repair shops replace the whole display and don’t offer glass only repairs, which is why it makes them that much more expensive.

The OLED panels in these phones is extremely thin and extremely fragile. If you apply pressure in the slightest way you’ll end up with a black spot in the display. Just do yourself a favor, and order a whole screen assembly.

If repair shops wouldn't do this, these parts (glass, adhesive, loca) would not exist. I had the glass changed a few years ago on a s3 at a repair shop, so they do it. But from what i saw it is a lot of work, it's easier for them to change the whole display, but it would cost me more than half the price of the phone. If i try it won't cost me anything cause the glass is all gone on a part of the display and it will break in a while anyways.

@bonck2001 all I have to say is, I can get a good look at a tbone by sticking my head up a bull's rear, but I would much rather take the butcher's word for it. I have yet to find any other shop in person that offers glass only on OLED panels. And the S3 used an LCD, not an OLED panel, which did make it feasible to do a glass only repair. As I stated, and I am a shop owner and technician, can confirm through multiple experiences, that glass only repairs on OLED is near impossible without special tools and equipment. There's tons of useless products out there because people are naive to buy them. But go ahead and try it and find out for yourself. Just make sure you back up your data before doing so. You can't recover it without a broken screen.

0.03mm Molybdenum Wire For Curved Screen

0.05mm Molybdenum Wire Universal

0.08mm Molybdenum Wire For Flat Screen

Thinner the wire the easier it breaks and faster it will slice through your finger

heat 90c and use OCA glue removal and your good to go

Do Not Use a hot air gun you will just burn the LCD , find someone with a 3d printer and borrow their heated bed

most shops just keep the LCD and remove the glass in off periods then resell as a B grade screens to the next sucker latter on time is money

if you were prepared to buy a new screen no hurt in attempting to replace the glass

~10% chance of success
