any flash code at the led while powering off?

da

I now discovered that the picture is there’s but so faint the screen looks black, however when I press menu I can just see the yellow of the menu box. I have to unplug the tv and then it resets and works for anything from 2 minutes to 30 or more. once it goes using the power on the remote I see brief flash of a screen or message saying no signal (as Its only plugged into the PS4) and then either a normal screen on black (near zero on brightness …. very faint)

da

earlier it was also powering off to a red light after a few minutes usage - I google the black screen and it says its a controller issue? Is this fixable? Expensive to do ? or cheap and easy ?

da

did not notice any flashing of the less - so no codes that I am aware of

IT IS EITHER A BACK LIGHT LED. OR A BAD CAPACITOR ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD. IF YOUR LUCKY YOU MAY SEE THE CAP. TOP PUFFED UP COMPARE TO OTHER CAPS. ON THAT BOARD. IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO TEST THE LED’S EMAIL ME AND I CAN WALK YOU THROUGH IT IF YOU HAVE A METER. WHEN CHECKING THE LED’S AND YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE SCREENS MARK THE SCREENS SO YOU PUT IT TOGETHER RIGHT THERE IS SOME TIMES 3-5 SCREENS THEY ONLY GO ONE WAY. GOOD LUCK

Thanks - I did manage to find a google reference saying this was a control board issue. most times it resets for a short while after a full power cycle.

I returned this Tv and got my money back from the second-hand sales - but it was a great picture and loved the TV, just cannot afford time or money to fix - better off putting the money for a new tv I think

Also, at the beginning, the TV would simply switch off after a couple of minutes working and the LED would go red. When the screen goes black, the LED stayed green, and on pressing Menu I could faintly see the menu

@nick ... if you have an image on screen but no backlight, this will come down to either your power supply led circuit, your mainboard backlight circuit (blon, on/off) or bad leds strips.

easiest way to figure this out is to take voltage readings at your power supply and match the readings at the connector leading to the main board and the backlight array against the printed legend on the board.

next would be to test the led strips themselves to see if any are shorted out.

plenty of reading material on this site and youtube/google already. ( search testing backlights, testing power supply)

youll either find your backlights are shorted, your power supply isnt providing voltage as it should or if they both check out, that only leaves the main board not sending proper signals to enable the backlight s to come on.

"most times it resets for a short while after full power cycle."

this gem of information, if provided in your post, would have directed the outcome to the mainboard. This occirs once an eeprom has failed. this holds the information (operating instructions) of the tv for functionality.
