Why won't my dualshock 4 controller (CUH-ZCT2U) charge?

So I've replaced the battery with an aftermarket(2200mah) thinking the original(1000mah) was toast, I've tried the reset button on the controller and tried switching cable. Nothing works it pulses orange like it's charging the light doesn't change or turn off that's even after 24hrs. But when I remove the cable and try using the console says battery low and then the controller dies.
