We snapped the power button cable. We’ve done this before on 2015 iMac and we were able to solder the cable together and reseat the power button with no issues. My question is will a power button from a 2015 iMac fit into a 2019? I gauges the parts and wire and they look identical to a T: screw holes, cable placement, etc

The power button is a simple blister switch which shorting the line to ground, just like the MacBook Pro’s (2015 and older) keyboards do.
As far as compatibility between the 2015 and 2017 cases. You’ll need to tell us if the mechanism fits.
Do keep in mind the leads are different lengths in some of the series as they take different routes.

We are attempting to place a 2015 power button from a 21.5” iMac into a 2019 21.5” iMac.
The mechanism in the 2015 power button is the same (identical) in the pics as the 2019 one we removed. Do you think it’s worth a shot? I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if the parts are identical but wanted to be sure.
We you slipped a ringer on me as you marked the system as being a 27" model. I don't think that changes anything though ;-}
You'll still need to make a direct inspection of the button shell to be sure between the two cases. Use a heat gun to soften the glue (don't melt the wires)

Based on your response it sounds like the function of the button is the same; hence it will work as long as the wire reaches the MLB and the button fits in place.
@danj Just wanted to let you know as well as make this answer public; the power button from the 2015 iMac worked on the 2019. From what I see 2012-2019 iMacs seems to have the same mechanics and length of wire. Thanks again for the feedback
