How to By-Pass Apple's Planned obsolescence

Last month HBO Now APP disappeared from my Apple TV 3. They are now offering HBO MAX but the HBO Now still works on my Mac. I know the box is not obsolete as it still plays everything else. Is there some way to reprogram it SO I DON’T HAVE TO GO SHELL OUT ANOTHER $179 for a box that will handle 4K (I don’t even have a 4K TV.

I also noticed as I went to watch the WWDC event that my APP to get those events disappeared just today!

@mayer - I watched the event on my Apple TV as well. I still have the White tile with a black Apple logo 'Apple Events’ visible.

As for HBO, Apple didn’t pull it it was HBO! I think I read on Mac Rumors they pulled it HBO Pushes Back Removal of HBO GO and HBO NOW Apps from Older Apple TVs

The new iCloud model alters ownership to a lease model so they (the app owner) have the right to claw back apps.
