Replace Logic board with Late 2009 logic board?

I bought this from a govt auction. They pulled the hard drive out, but in that process they broke the display adapter on the logic board. Can I replace this board with a board from Late 2009?

I’d see if I could disconnect the connector body which was pulled off with the cable from display cable, then connect it to the logic board and secure it with Kapton tape then connect the cable back to the display.

@mayer - Yes, threading the plastic shell back is a possible solution!

So, the logic board connection would be the new "permanent" connection?

da

prabs That's the idea. Straighten those pins up some before doing it first.

Thanks. I will give it a shot or try what Dan suggested.

Here’s a vid showing the steps to re-tin the pads after desoldering the pins from them iMac 21,5" & 27" LVDS Display connector repair and here is the connector LCD Display LVDS Cable Connector (30-pin)

You may want to find someone with the needed tools and skills to put a new connector on. This would be the best solution if you can’t get the pins re-inserted into the shell.

The best solution would be to solder a new socket on the board. Try to fit the broken one is risky cause you could short pins and damage the display and (or) the logic board. There's 50v passing thru the socket to the display cable.
